TOWN OF HOLLIS ROAD COMMISSIONER’S REPORT 2019-2020

As the town of Hollis Road Commissioner, I work with the taxpayers, selectboard, code enforcement, planning board, utility companies, MDOT, and neighboring towns to oversee the maintenance and repairs of all the roads within the town. I am continually working to provide the residents of Hollis the best service possible, while constantly looking for new cost savings methods to maintain and improve roads in our growing community. Some of the highlights for this year were: ● Shaw Brothers finished construction of 1.75 miles of Sand Pond Road ● Carroll Materials reclaimed with cement and paved 1.25 miles of Salmon Falls Road, .90 miles Upper Tarbox Road, 1.28 miles Bear Hill Road, and a 2.3 mile section of Deerwander Road ● Carroll Materials was awarded the bid to resurface: Lower Tarbox Rd, Crestwood Cir, Fairwood Cir, Northwood Cir, Ledgewood Dr, Kingswood Dr, Oakwood Dr, Heather Ln, History Ln, and the bridge deck and approaches on Chadbourne Ridge Road ● Carroll Materials re-surfaced: Old Alfred Road East, Country Club Road, and .80 miles of Deerwander Road in the fall of 2019 ● Carroll Materials reclaimed with cement and paved approximately 2 miles of Saco Road

● Total snowfall for 2019-2020 62 inches ● Continue posting town roads in the spring

Activities for the 2019-2020 year includes:

● Replace culverts and/or ditching-shouldering on the following roads: Darbick Terrace, Bean Street, Mansion Road, Deerwander Road, Whitehouse Road, etc. ● Closed Muddy Brook Rd to thru traffic after scoping a 42” culvert and determining it wasn’t safe to continue to drive over ● Continued assisting the Hollis Fire Department and State Police as needed ● Continued mowing shoulders of town roads, cutting brush, and tree removal ● Grading and dust control on dirt roads ● Cold patching paved roads

● Sign and guardrail repair or replacement ● Sweeping, striping and crack sealing roads

2019-2020 has been another very busy year. Working with the select board we have been able to rebuild and improve many of our towns worst roads. Next year we have several more roads scheduled to be resurfaced and plan to apply for a grant from MDEP to replace a large culvert on Muddy Brook Road. I appreciate your continued support while we work to maintain and improve our roads. It is a privilege for me to continue to serve the residents and taxpayers of the Town of Hollis.
