Principal

January 2021 Dear Residents, In 2020, Adult Education celebrated the accomplishments of 13 new graduates at our cap and gown graduation ceremony on Thursday, August 6. A limited number of family members gathered at an abbreviated, socially distanced event in the Elm Street School gymnasium to recognize the achievements of these students and to watch as the eight attending graduates collected their diplomas. Awards were given to individuals selected by staff, for Perseverance, Overcoming Obstacles, and Courage to Grow, the latter of which is provided by Central Maine Community College for one 3-credit class. During the 2019/2020 school year, which began with a five-week summer session, we served 41 students in academic High School Diploma and HiSET programming as well as Career Advising. Twenty-one others participated in computer or business skills classes. Prior to the start of the pandemic, we also had 282 registrations in adult and community enrichment classes, offering topics such as fitness, arts and crafts, outdoor safety education, informational sessions, etc. All combined, this is a total of 364 registrations for our program. While we were able to maintain our instructional role with academic students throughout the year, we missed our usual interaction with our community friends, and we look forward to holding enrichment programming again when we are able. Please watch for classes in future course catalogs - or visit our website at http://mechanicfalls.maineadulted.org/ for updates. You can also stay connected with events and developments by finding us on Facebook or Twitter. If we can be of assistance in any way, please email jrose@rsu16.org or call 345-3217. If we don’t have the class or resource to meet your needs, we will do our best to help you find one that does. As always, your ideas, support and involvement are always welcome and appreciated! Respectfully, Jenny H. Rose Director
