MSA Club News happy. They generously let us use their land and some of the landowners have critical land that if we were to lose permission would shut down ITS 87. It should be said there should be no littering on the trails. If you bring items to eat and drink with you, please take your trash with you. Please make sure to rejoin or join your local club or even multiple clubs. In order for clubs to keep open and keep trails great for riding, we need all the support we can get. Club meetings are the first Sunday of the month at 6:30 P.M. at the club- house (unless changed due to holiday – please check our Facebook Page to be sure!). We encourage you to attend the meetings and to join! We are always looking for people to help brainstorm during the meetings. We are always looking for help, so if you can, reach out to us! The club could also use some people who know how to run and maintain the equipment. Be safe and happy riding! READFIELD BLIZZARD BUSTERS Readfield, ME Find us on Facebook By the time this letter appears in the MSA “Maine Snowmobiler” it will be November and no doubt northern Maine will have had some early snow. Today, however, it is mid-October and mid-Maine is receiving some much needed rain. The trees are in full color and trail work is well under way. Members of the Blizzard Busters have been out pruning, trimming and gener- ally getting our trails ready for snow. On October 25 th the Readfield Bliz- zard Busters will have served their annual Landowners Appreciation Supper. Letters have gone out to all the wonderful landowners who are sup- porting the club, and allowing use of their land to facilitate snowmobiling. Without these generous folks there would not be any trails. This year’s letters were a bit different from previ- ous years due to the ongoing COVID restrictions. Rather than an invitation to a group sit down meal, prepared by club members, an invitation to receive a meal delivered to their respected homes was offered. Same great food, prepared by the same club members and delivered by club members. At this time, it certainly appears the offer is well received with many Landown- ers requesting meals. Stay tuned for a report on how the event turned out. This year, again due to COVID, the annual MSASnowmobile Show at the Augusta Civic Center has been can- celled. Old news by the time you read this letter. As always, we had hoped

accept it when offered. Lou Lozano, Winter Activities Coordinator, is developing plans for a possible Winterfest February 20. This is an annual event co-hosted with the Embden Pond Association. More on this in the future. Also, the operation of the Baarap Shack on the Dunbar Hill Rd Trail is still being evaluated as to how to function safely. The Fall was beautiful here. We are hoping the Winter will be equally nice and provide all the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Please stay safe and give everyone consideration. Your Cub Reporter The excitement is building with the snow that fell in the mountains last week. With that, members are begin- ning to work on rebuilding bridges and clearing trails on our 30 mile sys- tem. There are several new land own- ers and construction projects that may require reroutes in the near future. Adam has organized work groups for the next few Sundays to begin to check and clear the trails. Our club has new trail maps thanks to the efforts of Trevor Beaullieu, and they can be picked up at the town office and the Redemption Center in Randolph. Thank you, in advance, to all land- owners who allow us to use their prop- erty and a reminder to all who utilize these trails - STAY ON MARKED TRAILS! Pittston Prowler meetings are held on the 1 st and 3 rd Monday of the month at the fire station - always looking for new members and all snowmobile owners are welcome! Moe McNally - Club Secretary PITTSTON PROWLER Gardiner, ME As with most clubs, we are in need of volunteers, people to take positions on the board, people to attend meet- ings, and lastly and most importantly, we are in need of a trail master. Please reach out to our President Penny Hay on our Facebook Page or by e-mail at pjhay@icloud.com. We will be making turkey pies on Saturday, November 14 th . It’s an all-day affair so it you have a few hours to volunteer, please stop at the clubhouse. It is becoming even more important to remember to respect our landown- ers and ride on the marked trails. membership fee, so it’s really very affordable to join your local club! Trailwork has started, and will continue every Sunday until snow flies. Meet at the clubhouse at 8:30 AM; any help is always appreciated! Steve sometimes cooks up a hearty breakfast first, so you’ll be plenty “fueled-up” for a morning working on trails. We held a delicious membership chicken & ribs BBQ cook-out on Oct. 11th (practicing social distancing). It was a sunny, warm afternoon, and very nice to have some younger folks joining us this year! We also enjoyed hearing updates on Camp Capella’s happenings from guest Harvey Ches- ley. They made this summer hap- pen by using virtual camp! I found it very encouraging, and Harvey related Camp Capella will be hold- ing an online Auction fundraiser this December, be watching how you can support this worthwhile organization. We have our club meetings sched- uled for this season, mark your cal- endars and please try to join us! The clubhouse is heated, and there’s plenty of room for social distancing. Please bring your mask. Nov. 10th, 7pm; December 8th will be a lobster stew dinner meeting at 6pm; Jan.12th, 7pm; Feb.9th, 7pm; March 19th, 7pm; April 13th, 7pm. At this time, there are no planned club meetings for this year. Business has been discussed between the officers by phone. If you have something to share, leave a com- ment on our Facebook page or call John Duff @ 207-566-5722 or Jay Wilson (207-566-5722). Trailmaster JayWilson has been out brushing. He has also made repairs to multiple bridges, some that were dam- aged by motorized vehicles since last season’s snow melted. He reports that there will be some trail relocations due to landowner requests. These will be sufficiently marked and should not be an issue for sledders traveling at safe speeds. If you wish to help on the trails, please give Jay a phone call, as he is slow to ask for help but does

RIPLEY TRAIL RIDERS Ripley, ME

It’s been an interesting and chal- lenging year for us in Ripley. As the riding season started last year, we had an old and major trail get cut off as the owner planned to build a house in the area. Now the scramble to find an alternate route that would work for us. We did make it happen; how- ever, it involved a long area that was wooded. Our club and its people did come together and got the area pass- able for the short season we had. Then like everyone we got hit with the virus issue. This caused us to cancel our annual pot luck supper and auction and close all of the trails. The summer was also a complete shutdown with any activity or meet- ings. In September we had our first meeting and election of officers and started to put a lot of items into action, as found a lot of our trails need major work due the late snow storm last spring and severe wind storms this summer. To make matters more chal- lenging we found two of our major trails that had been clear cut and trust it was not pretty what they had left behind. However even being a small club, everyone stepped up and started to make things happen, and as of this date things are getting done. We also purchased a preowned Pisen Bulley last spring and have a group getting some needed work done on it, including replacing all of the tracks. The last weekend of September we did have our annual auction, the only thing we do to raise money. We held it outside with a great group of peo- ple attending, including the GREAT AL SWETT. The results proved out to be excellent and people did like the outside idea with lot of room for distancing. Ride safe and have a great winter, supporting your local club. Jay Hanson President Hi! Not much to report. Our meetings have been canceled until further notice due to Covid-19. Work is being done on the trails to get them ready for snow! All our fundraising has been can- celed, so we’re trying to come up with something new. On a sad note, we loss another valu- able member, Jill Everett.
