Notes from the Council

Spring is coming! The Council’s free Annual Wellness Screening is happening on Saturday April 6. The USM nurses will be here to check your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. You can get a tetanus booster (calling all fishermen and women, folks who work outside, folks who work inside, and everyone who can’t remember the last time they had one). We have great prizes for our drawing—things like gym memberships, personal trainer time, gift certificates to island shops, and lobsters(!)— watch for more information at Chebeague Island News ( chebeague.org ).

Chebeague Island Council membership letters will be going out soon. The Council does so much for our community, from making sure bottles and cans get returned to running Schoolhouse Seconds; offering island-based health care; helping with fuel, food, and medical expenses; organizing the 4th of July Parade and Road Race; and even publishing the Calendar. Your Council membership supports all these programs. Look for your orange membership form in the mail, and please join us!

Blood Draws, Blood Pressure Checks, PT/INR Testing, Medication Setup, Dressing Changes, Suture Removal, Wellness Checks, and Health Information. No appointment needed. No charge for these services. Tuesday April 9 and 23, 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. The Wellness Center is also now offering Tele-Medicine; call 846-4988 for an appointment.

The Foot Doctor, Dr. Rybka, is coming to Chebeague on Wednesday, May 1 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Call 829-6463 for an appointment.
