Chebeague United Methodist Church Worship: Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Office Hours: Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Contact us at chebeagueislandumc@gmail.com or at 207.846.4106 www.chebeagueumc.org

A MESSAGE OF HOPE— Did you know that one of the most consistent messages the angels give in the Christmas story is not to be afraid? Join us for worship at 10:00 a.m. throughout the month of December as we explore this story through the words of the angels and as we learn how to combat our culture of fear with the messages of more hope, more love, more peace, more joy, and more life.

SAVE THE DATES FOR SOME EVENTS COMING UP IN DECEMBER!

December 15 (time TBD): Join us for a community-wide Ugly Sweater Christmas party! Stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for more details. There will be prizes for “best” dressed! December 17 at 10 a.m: Don’t miss our annual Christmas pageant! If you want your child to participate, contact Polly Wentworth, Cheryl Hillicoss, or Pastor Melissa. Kids of all ages are welcome!

December 20 at 6 p.m.: Join us for a Blue Christmas service, acknowledging the reality that the holiday season can be a difficult one for many. Come to this meditative service to find peace and support in the quiet and comfort of others.

December 24 at 7 p.m.: Attend our traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. We remember the story of Jesus’ birth, sing carols, and share the light of Christ with one another.

NEW WAY TO GIVE!— We now have the ability to accept online donations via PayPal! Simply go to www.chebeagueumc.org/donate.html to learn about the variety of ways you can financially support your community church. These gifts are used to support mission and ministries, locally and around the world. FOOD PANTRY— As we make our way into the holiday season, please remember the food pantry as you think about your seasonal giving. We gratefully accept non- perishable food and household items to distribute to neighbors who have need. We also celebrate the many years of dedication to this ministry on the part of Lola Armstrong, and give thanks for her work as we welcome Jen Corson to this position. Jen and Lola will be working together for a few months.

ADOPTING FAMILIES FOR CHRISTMAS— Watch our Facebook page and website for more details, but the library and the church have teamed up again this year to purchase gifts for families in need this Christmas. OPEN HEARTS AND OPEN DOORS— Know that the doors of this church are always open. When the world is heavy and you need a quiet space to pray, meditate, read or simply be, the sanctuary is available for you.
