Notes from the Council

This has been a busy year for the Council. We would like to thank the members of the Chebeague Island Grange for all their support, encouragement, and guidance as the Council took over ownership of the former Grange building; Dick and Diane Calder, Hartley and Dianne Brewer, and Fran Calder were always there to answer our questions and help us sort out this complicated transfer. Thanks also to Lew Holman for all his hard work making us “legal.” This is a huge undertaking for the Council, and we are grateful for the support of the community and the opportunity to keep the thrift shop going. I am happy to report that Schoolhouse Seconds had a great summer! Christine Auffant and her band of volunteers did an amazing job. Sarah Van Fleet was wonderful (as usual) helping Christine learn the ropes. Little by little the Council hopes to make the

necessary repairs so we can continue to keep the thrift shop going. The Council is happy to be able to offer another free Dental Clinic on December 20. Please call or email us to make your appointment for a cleaning and x-rays and to arrange follow-up care if needed. The Foot Ladies will also be here, along with Dr. Redmond and our nurse, Steve. If you or someone one you know needs help keeping warm this season, remember the Council can help. Through the generosity of neighbors caring for each other, the Fuel Fund is available to all islanders. There is no application process. Just call Ester at 846-4178 to arrange for delivery. The Council wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and peace in the New Year!
