SENIOR PROGRAMS “Out and about” on the Parks and Recreation vans

Attention to all interested participants! Please be advised that a minimum number of participants may be necessary…. but typically the buses fill quickly, so we encourage early registration. Maine Botanical Gardens—Thursday May 18 Coastal Maine Botanical Garden is the place to visit this spring. Won’t you join us? With over 38,000 beautiful flowering bulbs and spring blooming bulbs to see from the earliest crocus to masses of tulips, hyacinth and narcissus, you will find them all right here! Country Sunday @ Litchfield Sportsman’s Club—Sunday June 11 We are returning to Litchfield to take in another Sunday afternoon of live country music from the members of the Down East Country Music Assoc.(DECMA) It’s like being back at the Saturday night dances of years ago—but you’ll be home by dark!! You’ll hear old country, new country, classic country and a bit of good ol’ rock and roll that will fill your afternoon. Kitchen is available for lunch. The house was constructed for Captain George Tate (1700-1794) and his family who had arrived in the Colonies around 1750. Tate served as the Senior Mast Agent for the British Royal Navy, overseeing the cutting and shipping of white pines from Maine to England. As the only pre-Revolutionary home in Greater Portland that is open to the public, the impressive period furnishings, beautiful grounds and herb gardens, and unique architecture of Tate House offer an insightful glimpse at the 18 th century and life in Colonial Maine. Owls Head Transportation Museum Air Show—Saturday August 5 Wings & Wheels Spectacular—Classic cars, WWII Warbirds, and aerobatic performances will headline the Museum’s most impressive event of the season. The Wings & Wheels Spectacular is the Museum’s longest running annual event.
