YOUTH PROGRAMS

WMS Early Release Day Trips Join us on the Windham Middle School early release days for a morning of games and fun, pizza lunch, and trips to fun area locations in the afternoon. Parks & Recreation staff will host participants in the WMS Music Room beginning when school is dismissed at 10:00 AM, and all trips will return to WMS by 4:00 PM. Trips are open to grades 6-8. Wednesday, March 29 th – Spare Time After lunch, we will head to Spare Time in Portland for two hours of bowling, a laser tag mission, and video games in the arcade. $5 Game Zone card, bowling shoe rental, and laser tag are all included in the participant fee. DATE: Wednesday, March 29 th 10:00 AM-4:00 PM Location: WMS Music Room Fee: $30 Wednesday, May 10 th – Monkey Trunks Let’s take a trip to Monkey Trunks in Saco for climbing, zip lines, and adventure. Monkey Trunks Adventure Course includes ziplines, swinging beams, hanging tires, a giant swing, and more! Participants will have the opportunity to attempt different levels of the course based on their own comfort level. Date: Wednesday, May 10 th 10:00 AM-4:00 PM Location: WMS Music Room Fee: $30 Tuesday, April 18 th – Kite-Making Workshop & Presentation Open to grades K-5, this vacation week activity includes an interactive presentation about kites, flying, and kite history from educator Bob Ray of “Why Things Fly”. Bob will share a variety of kites and stories, and then kids will have the opportunity to make their own kite to bring home and fly! SACC has been invited to join us for this event. Please note that the fee for this activity covers the cost of your child making a kite. Date: Tuesday, April 18 th 1:00 PM-3:00 PM Location: Windham Town Hall gym Fee: $5 kite materials fee Thursday, April 20 th – Teen NH Trip including Funspot Arcade & Remick Farm Open to grades 6-12, we’re taking a trip to the world’s largest arcade in Laconia, NH! Each participant will receive 50 tokens and a game of mini golf, along with pizza for lunch. On our way home, we’ll stop at the Remick Farm Museum in Tamworth, NH for a program of old-fashioned candle-making and a farm tour. Story Walk Programs

June 10 th – New StoryWalk opening at Lowell Preserve! Windham Parks & Recreation is excited to host the opening of a new StoryWalk. Join us for refreshments and a chance to be one of the first families in Windham to walk the trail and read the new story! July 12 th – StoryWalk Hike at Lippman Park Join Windham Parks & Recreation and the Windham Public Library at 10:30 AM for a group hike through our StoryWalk, with a new book. Feel free to pack a picnic and enjoy the park after the hike!
