An Island Fund Working with Chebeague Nonprofits: $44,000 for 10 New Grants

The Recompense Fund’s frst grant of 2016 goes to beneft all our Chebeague nonprofts. It is for the I Lead Nonprofts for Chebeague. The details are given below. This July, the Recompense Board also reviewed nine new applications from Chebeague nonprofts and agreed to fund all of them, in part or in full. Come fnd out about them on August 25 at the School from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Our community oven will

be serving the best pizza in Casco Bay. Bring family and friends to hear about how donations from our community are helping to raise all boats. Neighbors and friends of Chebeague from near and far, after contributing to their favorite Chebeague nonprofts, turned to the fund to help sustain the island as a vibrant year-round community. I LEAD Nonprofits for Chebeague Island Leadership Exploration and Development for Nonprofits What is I LEAD Nonprofits for Chebeague? I LEAD is a full day of leadership support for nonprofit leaders and board members from Chebeague Island. The program is designed to bring Chebeague community members together to develop leadership and business management skills and create a professional network of nonprofit leaders. The program will strengthen skills necessary to manage a successful nonprofit such as • Articulation of organizational mission, vision, and values • Fundraising and grant application strategies

• Meeting facilitation training • Strategic planning training • Board recruitment and development • Creating a sustainable budget and endowment

What are the training dates and time commitments? I LEAD runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 1 at the Niblic.

Who should attend and how much does it cost? This training is designed for directors, officers, and board members of Chebeague nonprofit organizations. This program is free to participants and is sponsored by The Recompense Fund in partnership with the Island Institute. How do I register? You can sign up for this program by registering at http://ileadnonprofitschebeague.eventbrite.com/ . The class size will be capped at 25, and slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of 5 slots for each Chebeague nonprofit. Please register by September 15.
