Office Hours —We are open Monday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. If you need assistance at other times, please call (846-3148) and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. The Town Office and the Transfer Station will be closed Monday July 4 th in observance of Independence Day. The new fire truck will be arriving soon. Annual Reports are available at the Town Office, Island Hall, and Library. There are plenty available, so please take one!

Voters will have the final say in the disposition of each paper street through Town Meeting. Please watch for updates and hearing notices. Committee and Board Vacancies —We will be reviewing all committees and boards for vacancies and asking for volunteers. The Board of Adjustments and Appeals and Coastal Waters currently have vacancies. Applications are available in the office and on our website. Sunset Committee Update —A survey will soon be available to seek input on the future uses of the town property at Sunset Landing. We thank those who’ve attended the many meetings held to discuss this important topic. All meetings have been public, and all minutes and study results can be found at http://www. townofchebeagueisland.org/ or www.chebeague.org . Please complete the survey. Your input is vital! C emetery Superintendent and Maintenance—Ann Thaxter is doing a wonderful job spiffing up our cemetery! If you have questions about burials or funerals at the cemetery, please contact Ann at 846-3274 or ann3boys@chebeague.net. Be sure to coordinate all burials with Ann. Property Taxes Due —The second half of property taxes was due April 1, 2016. Interest on the amount due April 1 st began to accrue April 2, 2016. If you have questions about the amount due, please call the office. The tax lien process will begin soon. Thank you for your support, and remember to be kind to one another, Marjorie E. Town Meeting and Elections —The budget passed as presented for a total of $3,118,657. This is a 5.9% increase

over the previous year. The largest increase was for capital improvements: $265,000 will

be used for chip sealing the nearly 5 miles of cold-mix paving done since 2012. The remaining $134,000 will be set aside for future capital projects and reserve funds. We also approved minor amendments to the Shellfish Conservation Ordinance and Planning Board Ordinance. The effort to repeal the Tax Acquired Property Policy Statement failed. Amendments to the Shoreland Zoning section of the Town’s Zoning Ordinance were approved.

Our Board of Selectmen will look a little different. Chris Loder did not run for re-election. Jay Corson was elected to take his seat. Bo Beaupre was re- elected for a three-year term. Suzanne Rugh was re- elected to the School Board for another three-year term. Stephen Todd was elected to take long-time member Carol White’s place, who did not run for re- election. Thank you Chris and Carol for your service. Paper Streets —On Wednesday evenings this summer, the Board of Selectmen will hold a series of seven public hearings for the various subdivisions containing paper streets (46). Abutters of the paper
