Notes from the Chebeague Island Council

The Council has recently sent out membership renewal letters, and responses are starting to come in. Thank you to all who, through their support of the Council, help keep Islanders healthy, safe, and warm.

The Calendar seems to be many things, all very different, to everyone. I often feel as though we are halfway between the high-tech world with an online edition and the old days with a mailed, paper version. And while it is true that much of the information in the Calendar can be found on www.Chebeague.org , the Calendar does provide a place for articles, announcements, and event notices that don’t lend themselves to an online blog. It provides a unique place for local businesses to advertise and for island folks to say “thank you” to their friends and neighbors. You may notice a difference in the Calendar in the months to come, and it is our hope that this will be an improvement. So, you if get a telephone call or an email looking for more information or asking a question, please know that we are working hard to do the best we can in both worlds!

The Chebeague Island Community Center partnership agreement is now in place. Please see the article from the three organizations, which explains this new relationship and how it helps all three nonprofits work together to better meet the needs of the community.

The Council board will be attending an all-day workshop on April 30 th . We will be working on our Mission Statement, Values, and Vision in preparation for strategic planning. Many island nonprofits, as well as the town, have participated in similar workshops and have found them very helpful. It is important that the Council be able to move responsibly toward the future while honoring its past.

Island Electric would like to remind everyone that we provide the following services:

➤ Installation and repair of electrical systems and components, including generator sales and service.

➤ Installation and repair of wiring for telephones, computer, television and sound systems.

➤ Boat and marine wiring (dock, piers, etc.).
